Brief

Build and maintain new features for a custom online property marketplace that caters toward non-agent sellers. This mainly focused on the development and updates to a property search filtering system.

Context

In 2016 I had started consulting and freelance work for studios that developed e-commerce and digital marketing solutions. One of these was Digital Thing, a digital creative agency in Melbourne.

One of their clients was an online property sales marketplace for owners to sell their properties without the need of an agent. The site allowed sellers to list their properties and buyers to browse by location and various other filters.

I was brought on board to continue to develop and maintain features for the site which had just recently launched after a rebuild.

Solution

The site featured a basic property search system initially and I was tasked with expanding this out to use filters for various categories and custom taxonomies as well as improving the search experience flow from home through to the property listing.

I worked mainly in JS and custom PHP plugins for these features.
